As providers of primary French "classes" for many years, we have often heard the question:

"How best can we support and encourage our child at home?"

The answer is in the question...........support and encouragement are all important, more so than any real knowledge of the target language or any teaching experience.

Why learn French?

Some of the happiest memories we share as a family are memories of holidays in France, shopping in the markets and the hypermarket. These can be enjoyed no matter what the level of French, with the simplest "bonjour", "merci" and a smile saying everything!

Clearly language teaching is very different today than when we were in school but even parents with the most rudimentary grasp of the language in question can support their child in the early acquisition of a foreign language in the home.

Children love to share a learning experience and will relish any opportunity to ’show off’ a newly acquired vocabulary to parents, grandparents or friends of the family. Should this be met with enthusiasm he/she will not disappoint and will even more readily ’perform’ an increasing vocabulary.

The activity books, posters and flash cards in our on–line shop
will help you and your child in learning French at home.
